I have heard of people doing yoga on their own and then getting all neural and psychological problems
So,I dont do that on my own

If one can stick to a single thought (without allowing himself/herself diverting from that thought to any other thought/object) continuously for sufficiently longer period, this is exactly what Meditation and this can be done by constant practice with determination and without guidance of a teacher.
