how does one become an alternative medicine/holistic vet?

I want to start my own private practice treating animals from mice to horses. I don’t, however, agree with traditional private practices that sell Science Diet and encourage annual vaccinations….and don’t use water therapy often enough. Yes I have it all planned out….just…how do I do it?
So basically I go to college and get my degree….then go look for an alternative medicine school? Where can I find those?

same way any other vet gets their degree – you go to vet school, then branch off into a specialty area of learning. it’s like the difference between a medical doctor and a doctor of osteopathy…they can have very different ideas on what it can take to treat a person, but both have to have gone to medical school to begin with.

not agreeing with traditional treatment is all fine & dandy, but until you’ve gone to school for it, you simply can’t possibly know enough about it to make an educated & informed decision about its usage. even most holistic vets use many many western procedures in their practice. nice to see someone’s wanting to go into this though…there simply aren’t enough out there.
