Is there anything I can do for my dog who has cherry eye?
I rescued a 10 year old beagle. He has some kidney problems and was given an antibiotic. The vet says it is too risky too put him under to do surgery for his cherry eyes. Is there anything I can try to help him? Something holistic or natural? Any suggestions?
I have to agree with what big kisses said. Maybe you should see a few other vets and get other opinions about the eye. The first vet really should have suggested something if he/she doesn’t want to operate, you can’t just leave as it is otherwise it will cause even more problems.
And good on you for rescueing – especially an older dog!

Antibiotics in the Environment $114.71 The fate of antibiotic pharmaceuticals entering the environment has become an increasing concern for researchers and regulators in the past decade. Terraccumulation and mobility of waste antibiotics in soil should not be overlooked as a contributor to the spread of bacterial resistance and the resulting threat to human drug therapy. This book critically examines recent global trends of bacterial resistance; explains antibiotic contaminant pathways from agriculture and water treatment processes; investigates contaminant removal by drinking water filters; models antibiotic fate in filters to illustrate the necessity for an holistic view of pollution pathways; and presents the need to incorporate diffuse pollution pathways into risk assessment and treatment system design. The research presented in this book was among the first to investigate antibiotics in water treatment systems. The alignment of scientific and engineering research with strategies applied in clinical situations could contribute to continued efficacy of antibiotic therapies necessary for human health and welfare. Production of Antibiotics $82.85 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The production of antibiotics has been widespread since the pioneering efforts of Florey and Chain in 1938. The importance of antibiotics to medicine has led to much research into their discovery and production. Despite the wide variety of known antibiotics, less than 1 of antimicrobial agents have medical or commercial value. For example, whereas penicillin has a high therapeutic index as it does not generally affect human cells, this is not so for many antibiotics. Other antibiotics simply lack advantage over those already in use, or have no other practical applications. Useful antibiotics are often discovered using a screening process. To conduct such a screen, isolates of many different microorganisms are cultured and then tested for production of diffusible products that inhibit the growth of test organisms. Most antibiotics identified in such a screen are already known and must therefore be disregarded. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F. Analytical Determination of BetaLactam Antibiotics $96.59 This study was focused to develop an analytical method to analyze betalactam antibiotics in aqueous solutions. The method is based on the chemical reaction between betalactam antibiotics with phosphomolybdic acid, a heteropolyacid able to be reduced by the thiols obtained after the acid hydrolysis of the betalactam antibiotics. The blue product obtained, which is proportional to the antibiotic amount, is adsorbed on polyurethane foam, and the intensity of color is directly evaluated on the solid material by means of diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. For the evaluated betalactam antibiotics, the analytical parameters achieved were: LOD = 0.03 g/ml, LOQ = 0.1 g/ml, RSD = 4.0 . The study of possible interferences showed that using solid phase extraction is possible to eliminate even strong interferences as ascorbic acid, cysteine and reducing salts like stannous chloride. The method has avoided, as many as possible, the use of expensive and contaminating solvents and chemical reagents. The method presents the possibility to be applied using only a desktop scanner and a personal computer for measuring the intensity of color of the adsorbed material on the polyurethane foam.
