What is this question asking for, how would I show ‘scope and breadth’?
The following is a rubric statement for my first year bachelor of education assignment, I am required to write a report regarding the best practices for teaching mathematics. I am usure of how to show ‘scope and breadth’ with regard to curriculum and or teaching and learning principles. What does scope mean in particular?
Statements are clearly and concisely articulated with regard to ‘best practice’ in mathematics teaching and learning; Statements have scope/breadth with regard to curriculum and/or teaching and learning practices; Statements are cohesive in that they present a holistic, consistent approach that also demonstrates insight into what constitutes ‘best practice’.
“Scope and breadth” is a trite expression for the quality that the instructor may be looking for in a report. Generally, what it means is that he is checking for a wider and completeness of your understanding of the issue. Include context information and relevant details, and you should be fine.

Curriculum Studies $125.85 Curriculum studies is a field that addresses distinct and important issues related to education. These issues tend to transcend the various areas of educational inquiry as they impact upon the design, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs. These issues tend also to be holistic and transdisciplinary, concerned with the interrelationships between various disciplines. Specific questions related to curriculum studies include the following: What should be taught in schools? Why should it be taught? To whom should it be taught? What does it mean to be an educated person? Curriculum inquirers also investigate the relationship between curriculum theory and educational practice and the relationship between school programs and the contours of the society and culture in which schools are located. There are programs in the field of curriculum studies in several Colleges of Education around the world. Books that have been written within the field of curriculum studies are many in number. Curriculum and Assessment $221.29 Curriculum and Assessment is the first volume of a new series International Perspectives on Curriculum. This edited book examines the relationship between curriculum, pedagogy and assessment, and, as with subsequent volumes, adopts a crosssector and comparative approach. Contributors make reference to a number of important debates in the fields of curriculum and assessment: summative versus formative assessment; differentiation versus inclusion; psychometric versus holistic theorising; decontextualised versus contextualised assessment; symbolprocessing versus situated learning approaches; integrated versus connected assessment; and high stakes versus low stakes assessment. The rationale for this volume is not to reach an agreement about assessment and curriculum frameworks, but to air the various debates referred to above and develop new frameworks for understanding these important issues. This volume and the series is timely as administrators and policymakers in different parts of the world have taken an increased interest in education, and as moves to centralise curriculum provision have gathered pace. This has in some cases driven a wedge between curriculum theory and curriculum practice, as policymakers have developed and implemented proposals without referring to academic debates about these issues. It therefore is an important task to reassert the need to discuss and debate the curriculum in a critical manner before implementation occurs. This volume sets about that task, addressing policymakers, administrators, teachers and the research community. Author: Scott, David/ Scott, David Series Title: International Perspectives on Curriculum Studies, Binding Type: Hardcover Number of Pages: 200 Publication Date: 2000/12/30 Language: English Dimensions: 9.56 x 6.42 x 0.76 inches |
