Dog Section..we decided to stop vaccines?
We found a holistic veterinarian that doesn’t do yearly vaccines and promotes raw and home cooked diets…about 200 miles away..of course. But they’ll take my dogs as patients for yearly wellness exames and do titers and such.
My question is how do you get around that when it comes to boarding, groomers, etc? They’ll want up to date shots. I don’t board at all at this point, and do my own grooming, but that could change at some point.
Only answer if you know anything about raw feeding and/or holistic veterinary care.
I don’t know about any waivers.
We are going to do the yearly exams when we will be down in Minneapolis anyway, for the blood titers. I’m not driving all that way just for vet exams.
My area doesn’t require dog licenses, so there’ll be no fine for that if I don’t get them..but we do get them, so that’s a non issue.
I found out my area doesn’t require rabies vaccinations…so that’s a plus.
You are doing the best possible things for your dogs.My dog eats Raw and he gets titer tested. Many top breeders I know do the same. I do not board my dog but if I needed to I would go to a private boarding facility/home. Not a commercial or typical kennel. I know several in my area that the owners feed raw and hate over vaccinations. I know the ones I know through being in the Holistic Care businesses and working with dogs in rescue. But you can ask your Holistic Vet if they know any come boarding facilities and holistic groomers. In my area that is the big thing so more and more groomers are using natural products and actually take their dogs to Holistic Vets.
If you have the titer results that is just the same as vaccinating. The Titer Test just show that you dog has SUFFICIENT amounts of the vaccines still in their systems. That is not a problem, The vaccines life a life time I have never had on titer come back low. So really your dogs are UP TO DATE on vaccines if the titer show that they still have sufficient amounts in their bodies. The vaccines do not leave the point in holistic care is that yes the dogs need the Original shots but not the constant over load of the vaccines. The constant and over use of vaccines is causing health problems. Most of the vaccines are bonded with Mercury. And if you think about it us humans do not get our childhood shots over and over and over again. They remain in our bodies and remain effectively as it does with the dogs.
Where I live our state does require license and that means they require Rabies every 3 years. But I titer for that and my vet writes a letter to the state stating that there are sufficient amounts of the vaccine in my dogs system and does not need a new shot to remain effective.
So you really do not have anything to worry about. If the titers come back good your dog is up to date on shots. Find the private boarding places and groomers who believe in Holistic Care by asking you Holistic Vet. I can also tell you that my dog being on a Raw Diet has greatly improved his health in tremendous measures. Feeding Raw can hard also when it comes to boarding. The knowledge is needed. Many of the Holtistic people do feed raw so again it would be good to find a private facility.
My dog swims every week at an indoor dog pool. They require up to date shots and providing them with his titer is proof that he is current.
