Dangers of metal crowns?
My dentist wants to put metal crowns in my child’s mouth. I am concerned about long-term poisoning dangers.
Please let me know if metal crowns are safe, or if there is an affordable HOLISTIC alternative. I am also concerned about the comfort of my child, i.e. being teased around other kids when they see 4 metal crowns in his mouth. Kids self-esteem are easily affected, leading to long-term emotional issues. Thanks for your time.
The first answer is absolutely correct.
The dentist will put stainless steel crowns on your child’s primary teeth. There are absolutely no dangers (i.e. poisioning) associated with them. The metal won’t go into his blood stream, etc. But sure, there is one holistic treatement. Extraction. That’s it. Pull them and wait for adult teeth to come in. However, would your child suffer more from pain and teasing associated with having missing teeth, or a little dental work.
Brushing, flossing, and fluoride treatments are critically important at his age. Make sure he drinks water with fluoride and uses a toothpaste with fluoride, so long as he knows to spit it out and not swallow.
