Wellness doctor of some sort? Help!?
Hey all,
It has always been my aspiration to be a medical doctor. As I have grown older, I have also developed a big interest in wellness/exercise/nutrition. I know that D.O.’s generally tend to focus on the health of the body as a whole vs. fixing the problem at the time (like M.D.’s generally do). I was wondering if there were any M.D. or D.O. specializations that would allow me to focus on promoting general wellness among patients. Would there be more opportunities in more holistic medicines like chiropractic medicine? I want to discover career options that allow me to combine my passion for medicine and healthy living into one job!
The claims that chiropractic is quackery is false. A chiropractors job is to access and induce a natural remedy to having a healthier life. Joint pains, back pains, strains, etc can all be impacted effectively and alleviated in most cases better than any medication could do.
A chiropractor becomes an expert in the anatomy of the human body and is able to access the problem and correct it using care not involving medicine/surgery unless it is needed.
Manual manipulation is simply restoring motion back to a joint. If you think about it bilaterally your musculature is near symmetric. If one side is tighter than the other, it will cause strain of other surrounding tissues. There is far more to it if you look into reputable sources.
It is funny how you can get caught up in how slandered the profession but you can see that the repeated claims are simply repeated and hold no true relevance. The profession is becoming more closely associated with other medical professions, as the benefits and results are apparent. It gets tiring reading the construed rationalizations of ones (or groups) opinion. Pieced and intertwined complexities of information do not justify creating fallacious arguments and claims about the chiropractic profession.
Anyhow, being a chiropractor really enables you to educate the public. It is clear that us as a society are responsible for many of the diseases we face. As a chiropractor you will be less inclined to simply mask the symptoms with a drug, yet you will uncover the cause and promote wellness.
At the end of the day it is clear how beneficial chiropractic care is by the patients.
