Holistic Nursing Schools

holistic nursing schools
I want to be a Nurse Practitioner. When I start school, what specialty should I choose?

When I start school next year, I will have to choose a specialty. The options are:

* Holistic Adult Health (Clinical Nurse Specialist)
* Holistic Adult Health (Administration Track)
* Holistic Adult Health (Teaching Track)
* Nursing Administration and Heathcare Systems Management
* Public Health Nursing
* Child Health
* Maternity

Since I have to pick one, and since I know that my final goal is to become an NP (maybe a CRNA if I can find a program close to me), which one of these specialties is the most appropriate for me.

P.S. – Assume that I don’t know enough to even know if this question makes sense. I mean, does it even matter what I start off with? Will I have to start school all over again to go from a CNS to an NP? Pretty much anything you can share about the process would be helpful. Thanks. :)

talk with your teachers to see or you can ask on the message boards for each of these positions via the links that I have provided–these are actually both a couple of my goals as well as a psychiatric nurse practitioner–I really haven’t decided where I want to go and am just taking one step at a time.

Holistic Education by Rudge, Lucila T. [Paperback]

Holistic Education by Rudge, Lucila T. [Paperback]

$151.35

The holistic education movement emerged in the mid1980s as a response to the then dominant worldview of mainstream education. It is an educational paradigm that integrates the idealistic ideas of humanistic education with spiritual philosophical ideas. Holistic education theorists propose an integration of what most progressive and democratic movements in education assume should be kept separate: spirituality and humanistic ideals. While these two paradigms may be combined philosophically, the author questions whether they can be jointly applied in a single approach to education. This book investigates this question by exploring the pedagogical application of the philosophical principles advocated by leading theorists in the field of holistic education in four selected school systems: Waldorf Schools, Montessori Schools, Reggio Emilia Schools, and Neohumanist Schools. The analysis and detailed description of the pedagogy in these school systems helps illuminate issues involved in the application of holistic education. This book will be especially useful to educators who are seeking to broaden their understanding of the theory and practice of holistic education. Author: Rudge, Lucila T. Notes on Nursing: What It Is, and What It Is Not

Notes on Nursing: What It Is, and What It Is Not

$12.61

Neither in my own nursing education at the B.S.N. nor at the M.S.N. level, was it even suggested, much less required, that I read any of Florence Nightingales original writings. Even as a nurse educator for over 30 years, I did not require my students to read her writings either. After reading this book, I now believe it is a void in the education of a nurse not to read at least some of the writings of the founder of modern day nursing. Notes on Nursing would be an excellent choice. This book introduces and discusses, to some degree, many of the concepts nurses have been dealing with since before my entrance into the field in the 1969, and certainly ever since. Included in these pages are concepts such as holistic health, home health, alternative therapies, health prevention and maintenance, the role of women in nursing and in everyday life, nursing administration, leadership, communications skills, mind/body and body/mind relationships. Her theory on the use of light, fresh air, warmth, cleanliness, quiet, and the proper selection and administration of diet is also well explored. Some of the comments are unexpected and very insightful. Anita S. Kessler, R.N., M.S.N., M.Ed. Florence Nightingale was the founder of the modern nursing profession. She single handedly revolutionized medical treatment with her writings on nursing. Anita S. Kessler is an R. N. With Master Degrees in both nursing and education. She has been an educator of nurses for more than thirty years. Author: Nightingale, Florence/ Kessler R. N. M. S. N. M. Ed, Anita S. A History of Holistic Literacy: Five Major Educators

A History of Holistic Literacy: Five Major Educators

$165.95

As one of the few books on the history and philosophy of American elementary school education, Cavanaughs work examines the pioneering careers of Francis Wayland Parker, John Dewey, Rudolph Steiner, Hughes Mearns, and Laura Zirbes. Finding the basic framework for current fashionable trends in education like the Whole Language and Process Writing Movement, Cavanaugh shows how educators came to these ideas over 100 years ago. After presenting the five biographies, Cavanaugh goes on to explain how children learn to read and write; what kinds of schools foster this learning; the roles of teachers, students, and parents; and the important tools of grading, evaluation, and assessment. In all these areas there are important lessons to learn from the past. Author: Cavanaugh, M. P.
