dhamma Vipassana meditation retreat question?
hi,
I was wondering if anyone could answer this who has attended a retreat in the recent past. Does goenka talk (the recording I mean) during the meditations or only in between sessions? Does he talk alot, how loud is the volume turned up?
thanks
It depends on the day, normally there’s some guidance from him during sessions. He explains how to practice and you follow. Sometimes the recording remembers you how to continue practicing.
There’s a discourse everyday during the night and he explains what happened related to that day and prepares you for the next day. At the end of the discourse you receive instructions on how to continue practicing. He doesn’t speak a lot, most of the time you are meditating.
Normally the volume is just right so you can hear it.
I hope this helps you, for other people that want to know more about Vipassana meditation retreats, visit: http://www.dhamma.org

Part of retreat conditions means that participants forgo ALL drugs for the duration of the retreat, including tobacco, caffeine and sugar.
