The critique of pure reason?

I have to read this book but “groundwork of metaphysics of moral” seems to come before that but many people didn’t read the groundwork book. I was wondering if it is absolutely necessary to read the groundwork book before the critique.

The “Critique of Pure Reason” is Kant’s first major philosophical work, and it is about epistemology (theory of knowledge). The “Groundwork,” however, is about ethics. So, no, it is absolutely unnecessary to read the Groundwork before you read the “Critique of Pure Reason.” However, you should read it before you read the “Critique of Practical Reason,” which is about ethics and is Kant’s second major work.

Furthermore, the “Groundwork” wasn’t published before the first Critique. The “Critique of Pure Reason” was published in 1781, but the “Groundwork” was published in 1785. The second Critique, the “Critique of Practical Reason,” which corresponds with the subject matter in the “Groundwork,” was published in 1788.
