Religion vs. Spirituality. What are your thoughts on this?

What do you find more comfort in? Spirituality or religion?
Some doctrines included in religions lose the very essence of sprirtuality in the process. I find that atheist spiritualists can give more peace than most religous persons. Why is this?
The link is just a shaolin monk demonstrating his skills against a kung fu or karate master. Very peacefull to watch. At least it was for me. PEACE!
Both directs us to the source of LIGHT.I choose spirituality over religion for the former gives me the truest meaning of my faith and my life (that is to say not being influenced by outside forces) while the latter is the extenal manifestation of our belief which is affected by outside forces.
Spirituality vs. Religion = Knowing vs. Faith

Shamans, Spirituality, and Cultural Revitalization By Balzer, Marjorie Mandelstam $114.04 Shamans attract controversy and fascination well beyond their numbers. Personal experiences with shamans are based here on extensive fieldwork in several areas of Siberia and the Far East, including Khanty, Sakha, Tuvan and Buriat regions. The author outlines shifting ways that healers and healing communities are creating effective yet altered ritual environments, transcending harsh legacies of Soviet and missionary repression. Providing new angles on our understanding of the intersections of spirituality, religion and politics, she uses narratives about shamans to probe social and political issues of postsocialism, modernity, authenticity and indigenous rights. She argues that talented contemporary shamans and shamanic tricksterartists combine socialleadership, charisma, creative talent, ecological sensitivity and healing gifts in their activist lives Author: Balzer, Marjorie Mandelstam Series Title: Contemporary Anthropology of Religion Subtitle: Explorations in Siberia and Beyond Publication Date: 2011/05/15 Number of Pages: 287 Binding Type: Hardcover Language: English Depth: 1.00 Width: 5.75 Height: 8.75 |
