Hello, i am looking for guidance toward field of holistic medicine.?
i recently withdrew from highschool and obtained my GED in a 3 month period and i now have goals towards a career in holistic medicine. I am asking for experts to write me where i should go from here on to obtain my studies. I know i start at a junior college and work my way up but can someone enlighten me on what is to prepare for? or what i need to study…
i left school after my ‘O’ levels (now called GSCE’s) when I was 16. Instead of carrying on with school to gain qualifications to get into University I worked for around 15 years.
In order to go to university I did an access course in science (Biology and Chemistry). This was a specifically designed qualification to give mature students access to courses such as medicine, pharmacy, Physiotherapy or osteopathy.
Once I’d completed it I enrolled and did 4 years full time Osteopathy and now practice as an osteopath in New Zealand.
During my training we covered a whole range of subjects some of which I thought were a complete waste of time but I did all the assignments and passed all the exams because I had to in order to qualify no matter how irrelevant i thought they were.
The university I graduated from was ranked in the top 50 in the UK the year I graduated so academically we were very challenged.
I could not have done this at the age of 18 or even 25.
Many people can at that age. Until you are focused and motivated enough to do whatever it takes academically to achieve your goals don’t do it.
I have considered doing more post grad study. I started it once and then dropped out because I asked myself why I was bothering and came to the conclusion I didn’t want it enough and wasn’t focused. Maybe when i am much older I will do more post grad.
Right now I want to do a part time undergrad degree in Arabic….. Completely unrelated to what I do but very interesting…..
If you study any holistic medicine or complementary medicine properly you will need a good grounding in Chemistry and Biology.
set yourself realistic goals and be realistic about what you can and cannot do.
Good luck.

Herbal Medicine $109.93 The use of herbal medicine is common in Malaysia including its use during pregnancy. However, there have been very few formal studies of herbal consumption in pregnancy and even fewer looking at ultrastructural features and trace elements of herbal medicine. This study were to determine the prevalence of use and to identify possible chemical properties and morphological structure of herbal medicine found to be popularly used among the Kelantanese Malay women during the pregnancy period. A study was conducted among 460 Kelantanese Malay women at antenatal and postnatal ward Hospital USM from September to December 2007 using structured closeended questionnaires. The surface morphology and the microstructure of Anastatica Hierochuntica L. were captured by Supra 50 VPSESEM LEO and Olympus SZ40 Stereomicroscope with image analyzer. Elemental analysis was done by using Energy Dispersive XRay (EDX). Herbal medicine is still being commonly used among the Malay Kelantanese women communities. The Uterine Health A Holistic Guide to Lifelong Wellness: $11.54 The uterus is a remarkable organ–it is our first home, it contributes to women’s sexual pleasure, it houses some of the strongest muscles in the body, and it even helps to prevent heart disease and high blood pressure. However, the uterus seldom receives our attention except when it becomes problematic or when we focus on getting pregnant or giving birth. And while health-promoting strategies for organs like the heart and lungs have become common knowledge, preventative measures for lifelong uterine health have been largely absent from Western medicine. Consequently, U.S. women have the highest rate of hysterectomy in the world. InThe Uterine Health Companion, Eve Agee demonstrates why the uterus matters and how we can take care of it, from menarche to menopause–and beyond. She presents mind-body practices to create lasting health so that issues such as PMS, fibroids, and endometriosis do not have to be our destiny as women. A comprehensive holistic plan including nutrition, exercise, cognitive restructuring, and visualization shows us how to promote uterine wellness and enhance conventional medical therapies. Chapters dedicated to specific uterine issues illustrate how to support our health through simple daily practices and fundamental attitude shifts in our relationship to our bodies. The book also includes strategies for women who have had hysterectomies. This empowering resource offers a prescriptive, balanced approach to developing and maintaining optimal uterine health, for every woman at any stage of life. |
