Can many behaviors, feelings and thought patterns REALLY be changed in most people beyond a certain age?

Basically, I’m wondering about the effectiveness of counseling and cognitive-type therapies. I’m excluding holistic medicine or the use of antidepressants. Thank you.

What can therapy do… hmm… depends on the severity of the problem. If you have a life long problem that impacts all of the the realms mentioned, then it may take a while for there to be significant shift in who you are. The older you are, or the longer you have with the pattern, and longer it will take for there to be change. As opposed to the younger, or the less time with the problem the sooner it will take. None the less, it really depends on the person willingness for change, and the insight they have on their personal struggles, and ability to apply a change when dealing with the problem
